Welcome to The Hobbyist Machine Store

Intro

The Hobbyist Machine Store (THMS), located in Frisco, Texas USA, is established to supply the needs of any hobbyist or crafts-person needing small high quality machine tools to fulfill their skills and ambitions. Our emphasis is on small, as in model building and craft hobbies done in the typical home environment or home workshop.

Many model building hobbies and crafts require machine power to assist in the work. THMS has selected what I consider high quality small machine tools that will not require weeks of fine tuning and rebuilding for proper operation. This quality selection is a bit more costly than the low end imports some first time hobbyists select as a low cost starting point.

If your desire is to work on your project and not rebuild your tools every time you need to use them, you are in the right place.

I have been there. A lot of productive time and inspiration can be lost trying to make low quality tools and machines work properly for the tasks they are supposedly designed to do. However, many hobbyist enjoy bringing low cost tools up to higher standards. Some of those machines produce excellent results after considerable investment of time and know-how.

To that end and for those home machinist looking to improve the low cost and therefore very popular Asian Mini-mill and Mini-lathe, THMS is the original source for steel replacement (for the plastic) gears in these machine tools. No other “Mini-tool” components are anticipated.

Taig Tools are very accurate and reliable for making the small precision parts a hobbyist requires. I can provide any Taig machine or tool as customers’ requests require. The present offerings in stock are based on my own hands-on experience but I can supply anything in this product line.

Taig Tools just released a power feed for their micro lathe. It’s not intended for threading but is a step above hand feeding. So Taig continues providing improvements to their well established product line.

The Hobbyist Machine Shop intends to be your source for specialized hobby tools and products. Let us know what we can offer.
