The Hobbyist Machine Store

The Hobbyist Machine Store (THMS) has been established to supply the needs of the customer who requires special tools, parts, kits or services that are best supplied by a small hobby sized machine shop. To that end we specifically place our emphasis on custom products not available from large volume suppliers. Thus the name, The Hobbyist Machine Store is appropriate.

Some hobbyists want to do their own machine work. THMS has selected what we consider high quality small machine tools that will not require weeks of fine tuning and rebuilding for proper operation. This selection is more costly than the low end imports but very accurate and reliable for making the small parts a hobbyist requires. We will expand the tools and machines portion of the business as our customers’ requests require. All of the offerings are based on our own hands on experience.

For the home machinist looking to improve the very popular Asian Mini-mill and Mini-lathe, THMS exclusively offers steel replacement (for the plastic) gears in these machine tools. No other “Mini-tool” components are anticipated.

THMS is not just a store for the machinist hobbyist. If you have interests other than machine work but need custom small scale machine work or supplies, send us an email.  The Hobbyist Machine Shop intends to be THE source for specialized low production parts and products. The A3 locomotive wheels are the first example of this service.

Currently under development are finished parts for small steam boilers (model steamboat hobbyist) which may be also offered as kits for the hobby machinist.

Limited Return and Limited Warranty Policies

THMS wants you to be satisfied with the products manufactured by THMS . You may take ~14 days to examine products manufactured by THMS. If not satisfied, inform THMS via email. You will be authorized to return the product postage/shipping prepaid to THMS. THMS will refund the product purchase price but not the original shipping. The returned product must be received unused, undamaged and suitable for re-sale. There is no stated warranty by THMS unless included with the product. Contact THMS about defective material.

Products manufactured by other than THMS are covered by the limited warranty the manufacturer or wholesaler provides. That information will be included with the product. Warranty is between the customer and the manufacturer and is not handled by THMS. No product returns to THMS without prior authorization. THMS will provide sales dates if required to establish the limited warranty period.
