Introduction
Welcome to The Hobbyist Machine Store. You may notice the name is very similar to The Hobbyist Machine Shop. That is a deliberate intention.
The "shop" is where I play and I enjoy the hobby part of machining. I do not directly "sell" anything from that location. No hidden agenda. I just show off what I use and what I am building.
The "store" on the other hand is where you will find some things I have discovered that I think are worth offering for sale to others. This is the "for profit" business sideline for THMShop.
I will always do a complete review with lots of pictures and sometimes video on the major products I offer. THMStore is the place to see a product in detail before you purchase.
I don't have a lot of items at present but I am open to suggestion about additional items desired in any facet of the hobby or any associated hobby. There are many items that don't make much sense for an individual to import or purchase in bulk. THMStore can probably find a way to help you out. This has led me to start producing raw material kits for construction projects. The first offerings will be simple and start to appear on site late on 2007. You can see there is a tab in the left sidebar already in place.
The THMStore nor can any Internet store be competitive with other stores if it is simply a "ME TOO" provider. For example, the gears I offer are unique, but the Little Machine Shop (LMS) does an excellent job on the other Mini parts. So what you will find here is different. There is no future or profit for the THMStore to play price war on the Internet.
The machine tools I show are competitive in price. There is not much profit in them to try to be the lowest. I have recommended Lathemaster, Taig and others many times. THMStore still does. I can't sell Lathemaster but with the store I can offer Taig.
The steel replacement gears are a great gear train improvement for the mini-lathe and the mini-mill. There is a review of the gear installation over in The Hobbyist Machine Shop. I recommend anyone considering the upgrade to purchase the full set.
As I mentioned above, THMStore has been approved as a Taig Tools dealer. I have in stock versions of the mill and micro lathe. I can order and have dropped shipped anything in the Taig Tool line at the Standard Internet Discount of 10%. Watch for display items. I do my own photography so it will take a little time to show in the catalog.
We have just added a high end, high quality mini type lathe, the Proxxon PD400. A wonderful (almost 7") metric lathe. More accessories for this lathe and product line will be added mid to late summer '07. I have everything else in the Proxxon small tool line. Check out the Proxxon web site and tell me what grabs your attention. Input welcome.
Rely upon THMStore to deliver only high quality products. ~ Dan'l
